Campbell medical update as West Brom agree transfer with CF Montréal
West Brom are closing in on their third signing of the summer.
Ryan Mason has already brought Nat Phillips and Aune Heggebo to The Hawthorns so far this summer.
Now, West Brom are looking to add George Campbell to their squad as they aim for promotion back to the Premier League.
The centre-back has impressed in the MLS for CF Montréal, and now the 24-year-old looks set to move to England.

Campbell set for West Brom medical upon UK arrival
It has been reported that West Brom will pay £1million to sign Campbell from Montréal.
This has allowed the Black Country club to beat several other Championship clubs to his signature, with Campbell likely set to partner Phillips at the back for the Baggies.
Now, according to West Brom insider, DOOD, via X (14 July), a full agreement has been reached between West Brom and Montréal.
George Campbell | MLS stats (2025 season) |
Appearances | 16 |
Starts | 15 |
Assists | 1 |
Clean sheets | 2 |
With both personal terms and sale price no longer an issue, Campbell will have a medical before the transfer becomes official.
However, this will not take place until the defender arrives in the UK, ahead of his move to West Brom.
West Brom’s centre-back issues are now resolved
Going into the new 2025/26 Championship season, few teams will have a better centre-back pairing than Campbell and Phillips.
The duo will come into The Hawthorns with fantastic experience, and are easily two of the best defenders in the second tier.
These additions should help to finally resolve West Brom’s issues at the back.
So far in 2025, the Baggies have only kept three clean sheets, which contributed to their late collapse last season. Therefore, if the Campbell transfer goes through, West Brom stand an excellent chance of mounting a successful promotion push this season.
Hopefully, Mason will now target more attacking additions over the next few weeks before the start of the new campaign.
