West Brom quietly release new kit, it looks too much like it belongs to Wolves

West Brom have been very sly in their latest kit announcement.

The Baggies have generally been met with positive reviews after the new look of the home and away shirts was released at The Hawthorns.

The new design of the traditional navy and white stripes has been questioned by some, while the yellow and green of the travelling strip has been more well-received.

With that being said, the latest release is unlikely to go down as well in B71 as it may do among the Molineux faithful across the Black Country.

West Brom release Wolves-esque kit

There is no getting away from the bitter rivalry between Albion and the Old Gold despite the general lack of clashes between the two sides.

This was showcased when the last time the two met resulted in a potential abandonment as fights broke out within the stands in the Midlands.

If anything, this has only sharpened the tension surrounding the derby, meaning any similarities between the clubs are quickly erased.

It is fair to say that the Baggies haven’t done themselves any favour with their latest kit design, which more than closely resembles their rivals.

On Wednesday (16 July), in extremely quiet fashion, the West Brom Shop account on X shared a link to the new goalkeeper shirts after they became available via the website.

As it stands, barely 3000 views have hit this post, meaning many supporters may be unaware that their keepers will be wearing orange and black next season.

Obviously, Wolves are famed for their “gold” design, something which has become more and more orange as years have passed.

As a result, this sly announcement, matched with the design of the kit, is unlikely to go down well with the Albion faithful.

West Brom fans likely to be unhappy with kit launch

To have a shirt that reflects your biggest rivals to such an extent is certainly a strange move by Macron and the B71 club.

The only saving grace is that only Joe Wildsmith, Josh Griffiths, or any other new keeper will wear the strip on a matchday.

That isn’t to say that the Baggies should have their ear closer to the ground to understand that this release is unlikely to do well in terms of sales or fan reaction.

Regardless of this, fans will have to put their feelings aside and continue to back Ryan Mason’s side moving into the new Championship campaign.
