‘Heggem to be handed new contract’ as West Brom fears soon to grow
Tobjorn Heggem has excelled at West Brom since arriving last summer.
Ryan Mason still has a lot of work to do between now and the start of the Championship campaign, though much of that work will be done by the team around him when it comes to transfers and contracts.
Sorting Josh Maja’s contract situation will be a priority, given that he has just one year left on his current deal, and it may not be long until the same is said for several others.
Heggem’s performances in the Championship last season earned him rave reviews from those at The Hawthorns, though it may well have earned him interest as well.

West Brom must be prepared for Heggem interest
Heggem signed a three-year deal when he moved to the Baggies in July last year, meaning he is under contract until 2027.
However, contract lengths mean very little nowadays, with them often negotiated to find a loophole around PSR.

Heggem will have undoubtedly had other teams looking at him last season, and given the fact that he very rarely put a foot wrong, he will almost certainly be in a few reports elsewhere.
While it may not be an immediate priority, offering him new terms to extend his stay in the Midlands is something that will certainly need to be done.

Ryan Mason will want to keep his best players
Recruitment is often labelled the most important factor of a summer, but retaining those who have succeeded is arguably just as important, if not more.
Albion have several stars who will be looked at by other clubs, and it will be vital that they keep hold of them for the new campaign.
Whether that’s by simply rejecting offers that come their way or offering new deals to those likely to be of interest, it certainly will be a priority for West Brom.
