Watch as West Brom-linked Will Lankshear scores in Tottenham friendly

Will Lankshear has been linked with a return to West Brom this summer.

Lankshear, 20, spent the second half of last season at The Hawthorns, failing to score or assist in his 11 appearances in the Midlands.

West Brom have hired former Tottenham Hotspur assistant Ryan Mason as their new head coach, after disappointingly missing out on the play-offs last season.

Mason is looking to raid his former side for one of their top young talents, and he will be more intrigued following Spurs’ opening pre-season friendly.

Lankshear scores as Spurs win at Reading

Tottenham opened their pre-season campaign with a 2-0 victory at Reading.

Spurs, playing their first game under new boss Thomas Frank, fielded most of their stars with several youth players sprinkled in, with Lankshear playing the second half.

The forward didn’t take long to come to life, opening the scoring just three minutes into the second half.

New signing Mohammad Kudus’ corner was flicked on by Luka Vuskovic, before Lankshear found space at the back post to head home from close range.

Vuskovic made it 2-0 minutes later after good play between Kudus and Djed Spence.

Lankshear can shine under Mason at West Brom

Game time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is unlikely next season for Lankshear, given the unstable environment in North London.

Spurs finished 17th last season, which led to Ange Postecoglou’s dismissal, and Frank’s need for instant results will likely see the Englishman remain in the reserves.

A move to The Hawthorns would be great for the 20-year-old’s development, as regular game time would be a guarantee given West Brom’s need for attacking reinforcements.

This move is one to keep an eye on.
