‘Josh Griffiths flops at West Brom’ after key decision from Ryan Mason
West Brom are continuing their preparations for next season as Ryan Mason assesses who he wants to be part of his squad.
After losing Alex Palmer to Ipswich Town in February, the Baggies have continued to stick by Josh Griffiths, as he was recalled from his loan spell with Bristol Rovers.
Despite fighting for the Play Offs when he was recalled, West Brom‘s form dwindled with Griffiths in goal, and Mason now looks to be assessing his goalkeeping options this summer.

West Brom should replace Josh Griffiths this summer
It would’ve been hard for anyone to fill Palmer’s boots after his departure last season.
However, Griffiths has so far struggled to stamp down his authority as The Albion’s number one, with the 23-year-old and veteran keeper Joe Wildsmith taking turns in goal at the end of last season.
It appears that the new West Brom boss has also yet to make up his mind on the goalkeeping front.

Griffiths and Wildsmith have both appeared in preseason and shared the responsibilities in the Baggies’ recent friendly with Blackpool.
The pair played 45 minutes each, with Griffiths conceding two goals in the first half as the Tangerines ran out 2-1 winners.
The former Bristol Rovers loanee knows Mason’s demands for the keeper to be able to play out from the back, but Griffiths doesn’t seem to fit the bill at the moment.

West Brom need a short term solution in goal
At the moment, it is clear that Griffiths isn’t good enough to be starting in goal for a team challenging for the top six.
However, that’s not to say that he won’t be good enough in the future.
Therefore, the Baggies should look to sign a keeper on loan to put them over until Griffiths is ready to be the number one at The Hawthorns.
Either way, it is likely that a new goalkeeper will be brought in in the coming weeks, with Mason’s side short on options.
