Steve Bruce ’embarrasses himself’ after what he just said about West Brom
Steve Bruce’s tenure at West Brom was one to forget for everybody involved.
Despite Ryan Mason being unproven, the young manager’s reign is at least bringing hope and optimism to The Hawthorns before it has started.
Under Bruce, there was none of that as Albion supporters were forced to sit through eight months of his reign before he was dismissed, leaving West Brom 22nd in the Championship back in 2022.
Ironically, the former West Brom manager guided his Blackpool side to a 2-1 win over Mason’s Baggies in pre-season on Saturday, and now the 64-year-old has sent a message to his former club.

Bruce embarrasses himself with West Brom comments
Nat Phillips looks as though he will play a crucial role in this new era under Mason in the Black Country, with the defender impressing against Blackpool.
Mason will be hoping to secure more signings of Phillips’ quality to help him get off to a good start next season and ensure his tenure in B13 lasts longer than Bruce’s.
Shared via Lewis Cox on X (22 July), Bruce reflected on his tenure in the Midlands, much to the surprise of many reading his disillusionment.
“In my opinion, I didn’t get enough time – but that’s another argument,” he said about his time at Albion.
Despite their former manager calling the club “fabulous” and wishing Mason all the best, supporters will likely be furious at the comments, given his embarrassing performance.

After initially taking over the Black Country outfit whilst they were in play-offs before finishing 10th, Bruce’s time at West Brom went from bad to worse, leaving the club in the relegation zone in October of the following season.
Mason surely cannot be worse than Bruce
Mason’s more expansive style of play alone will likely buy him more time from Shilen Patel.
With ambitious new signings like Aune Heggebo through the door, West Brom will be hoping to challenge for promotion again next season with their new-look side.
This will not be an easy task with the Baggies seemingly struggling to implement Mason’s philosophy so far in pre-season.
There is still time for this to change, and there may be more growing pains to come in pre-season.
However, if Mason’s side keep recklessly turning the ball over in dangerous areas on the opening day against Blackburn, then Albion supporters may begin to wonder whether Mason’s project at West Brom will succeed.
