West Brom news round-up: Mason wants Lewis transfer as Liverpool update emerges
West Brom are expecting further transfer activity as their business accelerates in the coming weeks.
The Baggies have already had a decent start to the transfer window with Aune Heggebo and Nat Phillips among the new arrivals, but Ryan Mason’s side will continue to push for more signings.
Deals already look to be lined up at The Hawthorns, which could spell the end for some of West Brom’s regulars, with West Brom News now rounding up the latest.

West Brom can swoop for Angus Gunn
Angus Gunn has been heavily linked with many clubs this summer since departing Norwich City as a free agent.
Joe Wildsmith and Josh Griffiths’ latest performances in the 2-1 friendly loss to Blackpool has left the number one shirt still up for grabs in B71.
Stat (Championship) | Angus Gunn |
Appearances | 166 |
Clean sheets | 48 |
The Baggies chopped and changed between the pair in the second half of last season, and Mason could look for a more consistent keeper.
Gunn has been keeping himself fit this summer and is now featuring in the PFA pre-season at Champneys Springs.

West Brom interested in Jamal Lewis
West Brom could target a new left-back this summer, with Callum Styles’ future up in the air.
Potential departures at the back could leave The Albion needing to further invest in defenders in the coming weeks, with George Campbell and Phillips already adding to Mason’s backline.
Jamal Lewis is one of the options under consideration at The Hawthorns.
Middlesbrough and Norwich City are also reportedly interested in the defender, who is a free agent after leaving Newcastle.
The 27-year-old had an impressive breakthrough at Norwich but has since failed to recapture his form. However, a return to the Championship could be the ideal opportunity for Lewis to resurrect his career.
West Brom keen on James McConnell
Phillips could be followed by former teammate James McConell to the West Midlands.
The Liverpool midfielder is keen to gain some first-team experience and could be sent out on loan from the Reds this summer.
McConell didn’t travel with the Liverpool squad for their preseason tour of the Far East due to an injury, which has tempted Championship clubs to enquire about his availability.
West Brom, Ipswich Town, and Derby County are among the clubs keen on taking the 20-year-old on loan for the season.
