West Brom striker to leave The Hawthorns after latest transfer news

West Brom have plenty of options up front ahead of Ryan Mason’s first season in charge.

Aune Heggebo is the Albion’s marquee signing of the transfer window so far, with the Norwegian costing £4.75million.

Daryl Dike has also been a part of Mason’s pre-season preparations, with the American starting against Blackpool.

Josh Maja is on the road to recovery ahead of the opening day clash against Blackburn, giving Mason three quality options to lead the line.

Devante Cole to leave the Baggies

Cole is a striker who does not appear to be a part of Mason’s plans with the Baggies next season.

Cole, 30, was prolific for Barnsley in League One, notching 33 league goals across two seasons in Yorkshire, but the Jamaican failed to make the same impact at West Brom

The striker was limited to just 14 appearances off the bench in the Championship last campaign and failed to score a single goal.

Cole rarely featured for Albion last season.

According to Darren Witcoop on X (23 July), Cole is set to leave The Hawthorns after signing a two-year deal with the club last summer.

After picking Cole up as a free agent, any fee they get for the forward would be a profit, no matter how minimal it is.

West Brom proving their ambitions by letting Cole go

Next season represents a new era in the Black Country under an exciting young manager.

If the Baggies want to secure a return to the Premier League, they must continue to be ambitious and act like a club of their size should.

Cole was evidently not good enough; the ruthlessness to move him on after just one season is something that should be applauded and is a wise move from Shilen Patel and Co.

Nat Phillips is the type of signing West Brom should be looking to replicate, with the centre-back already impressing in pre-season.

The Albion could be set to do business with Liverpool yet again this summer, with talented youngster James McConnell linked with a move to the Black Country.

Securing the 20-year-old’s services would reaffirm West Brom’s play-off ambitions, with Ipswich, Derby and several clubs in Germany interested in the midfielder.
