Wrexham medical done for Premier League ace, could make home league debut v West Brom
West Brom face a difficult start to the season and it may have been made even harder.
Ryan Mason was appointed as the new manager in the West Midlands on 2 June and has been working hard to improve the squad.
Nat Phillips, Aune Heggebo and George Campbell have arrived so far, as Albion look to be in the mix for Premier League promotion.
However, they are not the only side with those lofty ambitions, as newly-promoted Wrexham have dreams of their own.

O’Brien could make home debut for Wrexham v West Brom
The Welsh side face The Hawthorns outfit in their first home match of the Championship campaign on 16 August.
A report from Wales Online journalist Tom Coleman (23 July) claims that the Red Dragons are on the verge of signing Lewis O’Brien.
He states that the former Premier League star has compelted a medical after a fee was agreed with Nottingham Forest.
He’ll also sign a three-year deal in Wales.
He could make his home league debut against Mason’s side, as they play Hull City in the EFL Cup first round before that clash.
West Brom need to be careful
The Baggies cannot afford to start the new campaign slowly, they need Mason and his players to hit the ground running.
Otherwise, it could be another miserable season for supporters, and they could miss out on a promotion chance once again.
Stats | O’Brien |
Championship appearances | 162 |
Championship goals/assists | 20 |
Premier League appearances | 13 |
Premier League goals/assists | 1 |
O’Brien is a top-quality player at this level, although he has not been able to prove that in the top-flight, featuring just 13 times in the competition for Forest.
He has 162 appearances across his spells in the second tier, notching nine goals and 11 assists from midfield.
The Baggies need to be careful of his influence when they face the side owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, because O’Brien is a dangerous player.
One wrong result at the start of the season could tip the balance the wrong way and lead Mason down a path that he cannot recover from.
Shilen Patel and Co. will hope that they can better Wrexham despite their brilliant new addition in the engine room.
