Devante Cole exit ‘likely’ as West Brom set to make huge transfer call

Devante Cole could potentially be part of a massive decision at West Brom this transfer window.

League One clubs are keeping an eye at The Hawthorns on the Jamaican forward’s situation after an underwhelming spell in the West Midlands.

As of now, there seems to have been no approaches for Cole at the Albion, and there are some doubts about Ryan Mason sanctioning a possible exit.

West Brom told to keep Cole as chances of transfer look high

West Brom should look to keep Cole unless they find a replacement for him, Lee Hendrie says.

The Sky Sports pundit feels the Baggies lack depth in the attack, making a call on the 30-year-old striker’s future a big one at The Hawthorns.

But while Hendrie wants to see the Albion keep the Jamaican forward, he believes a departure looks “likely” at this stage.

Speaking to Football League World (25 July), the former Aston Villa midfielder said: “Cole could be a really key decision for West Brom. When you look at West Brom’s squad, it’s very light in that area.

“When you look at all the talk and rumours, the possibility of him leaving the club does look high and likely that it’s going to happen.

“But whether this move actually happens, and is it right for both parties? I think he should be staying at the football club, unless they’ve got an immediate replacement for him.”

West Brom have signed Aune Heggebo to bolster their front line this summer, but they arguably need more additions ahead of next season.

Josh Maja not reliable after injury at West Brom

Josh Maja can’t be relied on at The Hawthorns after his consistent fitness issues in the previous campaign.

The Nigeria international was the Baggies’ talisman at the beginning of last season, but his lengthy spell on the sidelines left fans wanting for more up front.

West Brom should back Mason with centre-forwards who can be counted on, and Cole arguably hasn’t done much to prove his worth.

The Jamaican forward signed for the West Midlands outfit as a free agent last summer after an impressive spell at Bransley, but has failed to thrive in the Championship.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see the 30-year-old leave before the end of August, but Mason should push Shilen Patel to sign more quality options up front.

Cole’s situation in B71 will be one to keep an eye on, and the Baggies’ faithful will undoubtedly hope for more additions at The Hawthorns in the coming weeks.
