Ryan Mason ‘will be gone’ in November – West Brom reaction to defeat v Lincoln
West Brom’s travelling supporters had a miserable Saturday afternoon as they saw their side lose 4-2 to Lincoln City.
The result didn’t bode well for the Baggies, given that they kick off their Championship campaign in less than two weeks.
Ryan Mason’s side must now move quickly in the transfer window and add to the signings of Aune Heggebo, Nat Phillips, and George Campbell, or they face a turbulent 2025/26 in the second tier.
The defeat did offer Mason a chance to assess who will be involved next season, but it has left supporters worried that they won’t be able to challenge at the right end of the table.

West Brom fans fume over loss v Lincoln
West Brom visited League One outfit Lincoln at their LNER Stadium, looking to maintain their momentum ahead of the new season.
However, things didn’t go to plan for the Baggies as they capitulated against a side who had performed poorly in their friendlies before playing Mason’s side.
Thirty-year-old striker Devante Cole was one of the few positives in his audition against the Imps, despite being linked with a move away this summer.

The Hawthorns faithful have now criticised their squad’s performance, with supporters calling on new signings.
West Brom fan Charlie Harris, following the defeat, wrote on X (26 July): “Another game, another example of where we NEED improvements. Keeper, both fullbacks, midfielder, and winger is a must.”
Mason has been weighing up his goalkeeping options this summer, and Joe Wildsmith and Josh Griffiths has again come under fire for their performance.
Adam Humphries wrote on X: “Lucky it’s only a pre-season friendly. I will say it again…. Any chance of a new keeper? The two we have are terrible!!”
Another fan claimed that Mason “will be gone” by November after the defeat in Lincoln.
West Brom must pull their wallet out in the coming weeks
Lincoln will have been a real eye-opener for the Baggies.
Though it was only a friendly, it has shown that West Brom must spend and add to their squad before the start of the season.
New striker Heggebo struggled against the Imps, but he can’t be blamed, with it being imperative that Mason brings in another forward to help the Norwegian to bed into life at The Hawthorns.
