Marc Guiu deal perfect for West Brom Josh Maja exit latest

Marc Guiu was linked with a move to West Brom in the winter.

West Brom‘s pre-season hasnt quite gone to plan, with the latest 4-2 defeat away to Lincoln serving as a showcase of the amount of work that is left to do for the Baggies.

Devante Cole and Karlan Grant were on the score sheet for Albion, with Aune Heggebo handed his first start in his new colours.

Ryan Mason will be well aware of the need for more attacking quality to arrive at The Hawthorns this summer, and Chelsea may have opened the door for West Brom to achieve that.

Josh Maja will need time to get back to fitness

After a long injury lay-off, Josh Maja finally returned to the pitch for West Brom on Saturday, coming on as a substitute.

His return will be a boost, but Mason will be well aware of the lack of sharpness that will have crept into his game after months on the sidelines.

There remain serious doubts over whether Grant and Cole are up to standard, leaving Heggebo as the only real go-to option for the striker position.

However, West Brom may look to return for a move for Guiu, who will be allowed to leave Chelsea on loan this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Spaniard would add some quality depth to this Albion side and reduce the pressure on Maja to make an immediate impact after such a long spell away.

West Brom are running out of time to make progress

The signings made so far are certainly good ones, but Albion are still in need of several more before the campaign gets underway.

With the Championship season starting in two weeks, there isn’t a lot of time to achieve that, especially if Mason wants to bed his new players into the system and squad.

After such a poor display and heavy defeat to Lincoln, that may force the hand of Shilen Patel to accelerate transfer plans over the coming days.
