Devante Cole to link up with Darren Moore amid West Brom exit news

Devante Cole joined West Brom just one year ago, but is now already set to leave after a difficult time at The Hawthorns.

Cole failed to make a single start in any of his 15 appearances for the Baggies last season and has fallen down the pecking order upfront.

West Brom need to make further additions to their attack, and letting Cole leave will help create more space for new signings.

There is now interest from one EFL club, and this will see Cole link up with a former West Brom hero.

Darren Moore wants Cole at Port Vale

Former West Brom manager Darren Moore is now managing Port Vale in League One, and wants to raid his old club to sign Cole this summer.

As reported by Reading Today (29 July), Port Vale are interested in signing Cole following their promotion to League One, as a signing which could strengthen their front line.

Cole joined for free under Carlos Corberan, but did not do anything in his substitute appearances, which warranted giving him a start.

The 30-year-old is reportedly well aware that his role in the squad is a minimal one, and this could lead to his exit, with Moore pushing to sign him from his old club.

Moore is thriving with Port Vale

Moore made over 100 appearances for West Brom as a player and eventually became their manager for a short spell.

West Brom nearly pulled off a miraculous escape from the Premier League relegation battle in 2017/18 with Moore in charge on an interim basis, which then earned him the permanent job.

Despite limited resources, West Brom performed well under Moore in the following campaign, but he was surprisingly sacked with 10 games to go, and the Baggies were defeated by Aston Villa in the play-off semi-finals.

Moore has now guided Port Vale to League One, and will hope to continue their ascent up the Football League if he can add to their squad.

West Brom would be happy to let Cole join Moore, and another attacker will be necessary to join Aune Heggebo as a signing for the forward line.
