West Brom given fresh hope of Lankshear return after what Tottenham gem has said

Will Lankshear returned to parent club Tottenham Hotspur over the summer following his loan spell with West Brom.

Lankshear, 20, made 11 appearances for West Brom in the second half of the Championship campaign last season, with only four of these being starts.

Ryan Mason is set to go into the 2025-26 season with plenty of options to lead the line, with Josh Maja’s recent return from injury being a big boost before the start of the Championship.

Despite this, Lankshear has seemingly left the door open to a return to the Black Country after what he has said about West Brom in a new interview.

Lankshear speaks fondly of his time at West Brom

Mason has already tried to attract one youngster from Spurs to The Hawthorns this summer, with their pursuit of Mikey Moore seemingly hitting a dead end.

A move for Lankshear, however, could be more feasible if that is something that interests Mason.

Speaking to football.london (31 July) regarding his loan spell with West Brom, the striker said: “[The loan] was massive for me and my development.

“Even though the goals didn’t come, I had some really good games. I learned loads. The managers, what they would like, different systems. I loved it.

“They really treated me well. I really enjoyed it.”

Lankshear went on to add that he is unsure if he will remain at Tottenham this campaign or go out on loan, with a Championship move surely most likely if he does head out again.

Lankshear’s stats for West Brom last season in the Championship:

Considering the hefty amount Aune Heggebo was brought in for, Mason may have to rely on loan players like Lankshear and Charlie Tasker to help round out his squad for next season.

West Brom should sell Dike and bring back Lankshear

To help raise more funds to use in the transfer window, notable players may need to be sold by West Brom.

If the Baggies can sell Daryl Dike, who has struggled with injuries and replace him with a talented youngster on loan to add depth to Mason’s forward line, then that would be a shrewd piece of business.

After already having some Championship experience under his belt, Lankshear could be in a prime position to rejoin West Brom and hit the ground running.

Given the fact that Maja may pick up another injury next season and Heggebo may struggle to adapt to English football, there is a realistic path to first-team football for Lankshear at West Brom if he wants it.

Under an exciting young manager like Mason, who also has links to Spurs and West Brom, it may be a more attractive proposition for Lankshear to join now as opposed to the Baggies team he walked into last season.
