West Brom ready to cash in on Heggem after multi-million Bologna offer
West Brom owner Shilen Patel has a massive decision to make regarding Torbjorn Heggem this transfer window.
The Norway International’s debut season at The Hawthorns was impressive, and he was arguably the Baggies’ best player under Carlos Corberan and Tony Mowbray.
It isn’t surprising to see that Bologna want to sign Heggem from West Brom, and Bilkul Football may be willing to cash in on him.

Heggem valued higher, big-money offer could change stance
Bologna have submitted their opening offer worth £5.6million for Heggem, according to The Athletic.
The news outlet reports (1 August) that the Serie A outfit hope to do business with the Baggies in the coming weeks, but they want more for the centre-back’s sale at The Hawthorns.
It’s been claimed that Shilen Patel wants to keep Albion’s best players this summer, but big-money offers could change their stance.
It will be interesting to see what the West Midlands outfit will decide to do if the Italian club up the ante in their attempt to get the 26-year-old defender.
Patel links with Bologna may play a role in Heggem’s transfer
Heggem is a valuable asset at West Brom, but Bologna may be able to use their links with Patel to secure his signature. The American businessman owns a stake in the Serie A outfit, which could potentially make him more amiable to the Norwegian centre-back’s exit.
Former Liverpool defender Nat Phillips and United States international George Campbell have been signed by the Baggies to bolster their defence, but they will arguably have a tough time replacing Heggem’s impact.
West Brom relied heavily on the 26-year-old to give them stability, with his ability to play as a left-back proving invaluable.
Statistics | Championship |
Successful passes (percentage) | 2015 (88.3%) |
Accurate long balls | 77 |
Chances created | 14 |
Successful dribbles | 19 |
Touches in opposition box | 63 |
Tackles won | 47 |
Duels won | 218 |
The Norwegian is comfortable on the ball, which isn’t something that can be said about most defenders at The Hawthorns.
Heggem’s physicality also makes him valuable at both ends of the pitch, and the Black Country club will undoubtedly find it hard to replace him.
Considering Patel’s links with Bologna, The Hawthorns faithful will certainly keep a close eye on the defender’s situation.
