West Brom news round-up: Tottenham ready loan exits as Patel can make statement
West Brom will kick off their Championship season this Saturday when they welcome Blackburn Rovers to The Hawthorns.
The Baggies endured an uneasy pre-season, but did enjoy a positive winning performance over La Liga side Rayo Vallecano on Saturday (2 August).
And Ryan Mason will hope his side’s performance can mark a sign of things to come, with the Englishman hoping to hit the ground running in his first managerial role.
Here, West Brom News rounds up all of the latest news from the last 24 hours.

Mason reveals key Josh Maja injury boost
Josh Maja has only recently returned from an injury that ruled him out for the final part of last season.
The Nigeria international made just 26 appearances in the 2024/25 campaign, but still managed 12 goals and is expected to be a key part of Mason’s team, should he stay fit.
The West Brom boss confirmed on Monday (4 August) that Maja should be “ok” for the start of the season.
“He’s got to a good place, and he just felt a little something, so hopefully it’s nothing serious, and he should be OK for the start of the season,” Mason explained.

Patel told to retain Maja and Tom Fellows
Midfielder Tom Fellows, as well as Maja, enjoyed a superb season in the Championship last season.
The 22-year-old scored four goals and provided 14 assists, attracting eyes from potential suitors in the Premier League.
Speaking to Football League World (4 August), Don Goodman has encouraged Patel to make a statement by retaining the two talents this summer.
The former Baggies striker said: “Fellows and Maja will be crucial to West Brom’s goal-scoring output, I have no doubt, if they can keep hold of them.”

According to Football London (4 August), Tottenham are set to allow several players, including Will Lankshear and Luka Vuskovic, leave on loan this summer.
The former spent the second half of last season on loan at West Brom, and has been linked with a return to The Hawthorns to link up with his former coach, Mason.
Vuskovic and Yang Min-hyeok are among the other players who could well be targeted by the Baggies, with the cost of loan signings an easier pill to swallow in terms of compliance with the Profit and Sustainability Rules.
