West Brom get Torbjorn Heggem boost after £8.6m transfer development
West Brom fans will be sweating over the prospect of losing Torbjorn Heggem.
The Norwegian defender was a key player for the Baggies last season, although they faced disappointment after missing out on a play-off spot.
Bologna have Heggem on their radar after his impressive debut campaign at the West Midlands outfit.
Bilkul Football are looking to make a profit at The Hawthorns, having placed a price tag of £8.6million on the 26-year-old centre-back, but that may be too much for the Serie A outfit.

Bologna ready transfer alternative to Heggem
Bologna have identified Venezia defender Fali Cande as an alternative target to Heggem, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The news outlet reports in its print edition (6 August, page 19) that the Italian club are ready to walk away from a deal for the 26-year-old if West Brom don’t budge from their demands.
It’s been claimed that while the Serie A outfit haven’t closed the doors on the Norway international’s arrival from The Hawthorns, a transfer will only go through for a “fair” valuation.
Supporters of the Black Country outfit have been worried about the prospect of losing the defender, and will arguably be delighted with the latest development.

Mason needs Heggem at The Hawthorns
Nat Phillips and George Campbell can’t be expected to form a secure partnership at West Brom next season.
The Baggies have looked shaky defensively during pre-season after failing to keep a clean sheet in any of the major friendlies.
While Opta’s supercomputer predicts a sixth-place Championship finish at The Hawthorns next season, that will arguably be difficult if Heggem leaves.
Championship (2024/25) | Statistics |
Successful passes (percentage) | 2015 (88.3%) |
Accurate long balls | 77 |
Chances created | 14 |
Successful dribbles | 19 |
Touches in opposition box | 63 |
Tackles won | 47 |
Duels won | 218 |
Mason has relied on the pairing of Phillips and Heggem at the back for West Brom in recent weeks, and it wouldn’t be ideal to make a change in that regard ahead of facing Blackburn Rovers at The Hawthorns on Saturday (9 August).
Bilkul undoubtedly made a blunder by selling Alex Palmer in the winter transfer window, and could potentially derail the West Midlands outfit’s season already by cashing in on Heggem.
