A supercomputer has just predicted what’ll happen in West Brom vs Blackburn

West Brom’s Championship campaign under Ryan Mason is set to kick off this weekend.

Mason’s tenure at The Hawthorns begins when the Baggies host Blackburn Rovers on Saturday (9 August).

With a young, unproven manager, a few new additions and some dodgy results in pre-season for Albion, any supporter telling you they know exactly how the new Championship campaign is going to play out is simply lying.

Opta have predicted Mason’s side to have a successful campaign overall, and supporters in B13 will also be eager to know how they predict their opening fixture against Blackburn to go.

West Brom predicted to beat Blackburn on opening day

Any percentage chances of victory for Albion would take a major hit if a key player like Tom Fellows or Torbjorn Heggem were to complete a move away from The Hawthorns before the opening game.

Despite all the speculation regarding some key players’ futures at West Brom, Opta Analyst and their supercomputer have predicted the Baggies to kick off their Championship campaign on a positive note.

West Brom’s chances against Blackburn
Win – 47.6%
Draw – 26.1%
Loss – 26.3%
West Brom have a 73.7% combined chance of picking up points against Blackburn, according to Opta.

West Brom are given a 47.6 per cent chance of winning the match, while a defeat is ranked at 26.3 per cent. A draw is therefore given a 26.1 per cent likelihood.

Crucial for Mason to get off to a good start

Naturally, there is still a degree of scepticism regarding Mason and his position as West Brom manager.

It was a major risk for Shilen Patel and Co. to hire someone without any previous managerial experience before, and now we will see how it all unfolds.

Getting off to a winning start is the perfect way to silence any critics and begin to turn those who are doubtful into believers.

Ensuring more new signings arrive in the Black Country would also be ideal for Mason, with Nectar Triantis being linked with a move to West Brom from Sunderland.

During his loan spells at Hibernian, the 22-year-old has earned the nickname of the “Aussie Rodri” and West Brom fans will be hoping he can translate this form to the Championship.
