How much money West Brom will save as Gianluca Frabotta exit confirmed
West Brom continue to announce more exits, with the Baggies on the brink of beginning their new campaign in the Championship.
Following the recent announcement of Kyle Bartley’s retirement, Ryan Mason looked to have finalised West Brom’s incomings and outgoings before the opening game against Blackburn on Saturday (9 August).
However, one more exit was recently confirmed, with Gianluca Frabotta leaving the Black Country outfit via a mutual agreement (8 August).
With the fullback’s departure now confirmed, West Brom are set to save some valuable resources that could be used to bring in a new addition to The Hawthorns.
Frabotta exit to save Albion millions
Much has been made of the incomings this summer, with Norwegian striker Aune Heggebo being perhaps the player the supporters in B13 are looking forward to seeing in action the most.
But after axing the likes of Semi Ajayi, Grady Diangana and John Swift earlier in the summer, Shilen Patel has effectively cut costs ruthlessly with players who have failed to perform for one reason or another.
Frabotta is the latest name on the list, and according to Capology, the 26-year-old was earning a whopping £20,000 a week at the Baggies.
- The defender did not start a single game in the Championship last season
- Instead, Frabotta was limited to six cameo appearances, playing a total of 79 minutes throughout the campaign
- The Italian only arrived at the club last summer, but is now on the move again
With two years remaining on his deal at The Hawthorns, Frabotta was in line to earn just over £2million if he saw out the remainder of his contract.

Another wise move from the Baggies
After rarely featuring under Mason in pre-season, the writing was on the wall for Frabotta as it was clear that he didn’t have a feature at the club.
This is also clear for Devante Cole, who West Brom are also looking to ship off.
While supporters will be happy to see some of these names leave, someone they will want to desperately keep hold of is Torbjorn Heggem, with the centre back’s future at West Brom in doubt.
