‘West Brom fans are all saying the same two words after sickening Derby blow’
West Brom endured a disappointing defeat to Derby County on penalties in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
After a confident 1-0 win over Blackburn in their opening Championship fixture, Baggies supporters were hopeful of mounting a cup run.
With opposition manager John Eustace making plenty of changes, The Albion got off to a good start and eventually found the net through new signing Aune Heggebo, dominating throughout.
However, West Brom crumbled late on, with the visitors levelling up through Joel Ward, before they won the penalty shootout 3-2, leaving supporters all thinking the same thing.

‘Albion that’ supporters frustrated at West Brom loss
The Baggies had a knack for being unable to keep hold of leads last season, which ultimately led to their underwhelming second half of the year.
Despite dominating the game against Derby, supporters will worry that complacency is starting to set in, given that they conceded in the last minute of the game.

For much of the game, The Albion were wondering whether it was going to be their day at The Hawthorns as first-half chances continued to pass them by.
However, a nicely worked piece of play allowed Isaac Price to knock the ball down for Heggebo to score his first goal, the opposite of what happened against Blackburn.
The Baggies will be disappointed with the equaliser they conceded as Joe Wildsmith watched another wide free-kick fly past him into the net.
One supporter wrote on X after the game on 12 August: ” Typical Albion that, dominate all game and Wildsmith lets one through his hands, we never win shootouts.”
Another wrote: “Smashed them all game, lost on penalties, what a proper Albion that.”
West Brom must solve key issue in goal
Both Wildsmith and Josh Griffiths have mostly flopped in goal since February.
The pair have been afforded too many opportunities, and the fact that either of them hasn’t been replaced yet will hugely disappoint Ryan Mason.
The Baggies rushed to replace Alex Palmer in the winter by recalling a young and inexperienced keeper in Griffiths.
Should they not prioritise signing a new number one in the coming weeks, they will face the consequences, and the top six could again get away from them.
