Grady Diangana next club revealed as ex-West Brom star close to new transfer

Grady Diangana left West Brom at the end of last season, following the expiration of his contract.

Rangers had been linked with a move earlier in the summer, but decision-makers at Ibrox have since opted for alternative options.

Diangana’s exit from The Hawthorns prompted varied reactions, with Daryl Dike sharing his despair at the news when it was confirmed.

West Brom are yet to sign a direct replacement for the 27-year-old, but could now look to do so after an agreement to sell Torbjorn Heggem to Bologna for £8.6million.

Grady Diangana set for Saudi Arabia move

Diangana signed for West Brom permanently from West Ham in 2020, in an £18m deal that remains the Baggies’ record signing.

The winger had enjoyed a superb season on loan at The Hawthorns, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists as promotion to the Premier League was secured.

The move had prompted anger among fans of the Hammers, who thought Diangana should have been given a chance in, then West Ham manager, David Moyes’ squad.

But in the top-flight, the DR Congo international struggled to replicate his impact, scoring just one goal in 20 appearances in a season blighted by injury.

The two seasons following came in the Championship and heralded similar results, but the 2023/24 season saw Diangana finally find his feet once more.

The winger scored seven goals and provided eight assists as West Brom narrowly missed out on promotion, and looked to have finally realised the potential he once promised.

Last season, however, saw a return of Diangana’s injury issues. The forward started just 20 games, with his highlight coming in a game against Portsmouth, when he scored two goals and provided two assists.

The 27-year-old is yet to find a club for next season, but Fabrizio Romano reported on 14 August that Diangana is close to joining Damac FC after the Saudi Arabian club made a lucrative offer.

Will West Brom regret allowing Grady Diangana to leave?

Diangana’s talent was evident on far too few occasions during his time at West Brom.

The winger’s repetitive injury issues made his impact inconsistent, with the Baggies often left to wonder where the player they had seen just months ago had gone.

Ultimately, it was the right decision to end Diangana’s six-year stay at The Hawthorns, with Ryan Mason likely to opt for alternative options.
