Torbjorn Heggem spotted in Bologna gear as lower West Brom exit fee revealed in big blow

Torbjorn Heggem has all but finalised a move away from West Brom.

Heggem, 26, moved to The Hawthorns last summer and made a huge impression in what was a largely frustrating season.

Tony Brown tipped Heggem to become a “cult hero” at West Brom, rightly so. However, it now appears that new head coach Ryan Mason is set to lose the Norway international, despite having taken charge of just two competitive games.

This comes after the versatile defender was spotted wearing Bologna training wear, despite a deal yet to be announced by the Black Country outfit.

Heggem footage emerges from Bologna

It did feel as if Heggem was a class above his Albion teammates at times, even immediately after his switch from Swedish outfit Brommapojkarna.

As a result, keeping hold of the defender was always going to represent a stern test as the window edged closer towards deadline day.

It appears that the B71 club have failed in their mission to keep Heggem after West Brom accepted a bid for him and he jetted out of the UK.

Heggem has since accepted a proposal from Bologna, with the Baggies faithful left awaiting confirmation of the bad news.

This hasn’t yet been revealed by either club, but footage has been shared by Leonardo Bosello on X (14 August), which sees the defender wearing gear of his new side as he prepares for his medical.

A deal in the region of £10million had been widely reported in British media.

However, the Italian journalist has suggested that a deal worth £7.7m has been struck.

West Brom set to confirm Heggem exit

After weeks of departure rumours, it finally seems as if this saga has reached its end, in the most frustrating fashion for West Brom.

It says a lot about Heggem that he still started against Blackburn Rovers, but now looks all set to complete an Italian move.

With this move set to be confirmed by the Baggies, someone like George Campbell will have to hit the ground running in B71 to avoid any concerns from supporters.

Alongside the American, it appears that Nat Phillips has settled in after a terrific debut, something which could ease worries after such a big-name exit.
