West Brom in talks with agent as Krystian Bielik deal now expected within hours

West Brom are rapidly closing in on a deal to make Krystian Bielik their fourth new addition of the summer.

The centre-back started 20 games for Birmingham City last season as they raced to the League One title, but he now appears to have fallen down the pecking order at the second city outfit.

The Baggies appear set to pounce on the opportunity that has been presented to them, and could be about to bring Bielik to The Hawthorns imminently.

Ryan Mason’s side have enjoyed a bright start to the new Championship campaign, and they could be about to strengthen their hand with a deal for the Polish international.

West Brom to pay £1m+ for Bielik as deal expected within 24 hours

West Brom look set to lose Torbjorn Heggem imminently, with the Norwegian now understood to be in Italy to complete his move to Bologna.

His departure will serve as a major blow for the Baggies, but they appear to have made the swift reaction that was necessary, with a deal for Bielik now on the verge of going through.

The 27-year-old could become a West Brom player within the next 24 hours, according to information from Football League World.

The B71 outfit are believed to have fought off competition from Portsmouth to secure his signature, and will pay a fee in excess of £1million for his services.

Mason’s side appear to have the defender firmly within their grasp, and have already been in contact with his agent, according to Dood via X.

Bielik should be a capable replacement for Heggem

West Brom needed to address Heggem’s exit quickly, and they appear to have now managed that following the news of Bielik’s imminent arrival.

He may have spent last season playing in the third tier, but there can be no doubting his pedigree at Championship level.

The former Derby County man enjoyed a five-year stay in the second division across spells with both the Rams and Birmingham, and has played a crucial role for both over the years.

For a fee of potentially just over £1m, the Baggies appear to have found themselves a bargain.
