Supercomputer predicts what’ll happen in Wrexham vs West Brom
West Brom got their Championship campaign off to a good start against Blackburn, but will now face their first tricky away game.
Ryan Mason’s side won 1-0 in his first competitive game against Blackburn, but it was a different story a few days later as West Brom were knocked out of the Carabao Cup.
The Baggies will now travel to face Wrexham in their first away game of the campaign, and it will be Wrexham’s first home game since their promotion to the Championship.
The Welsh side have attracted a lot of attention following their takeover and back-to-back promotions, and there will be plenty of focus as West Brom’s trip to the Racecourse Ground will be one of their highest-profile matches to date.

Wrexham backed to beat West Brom
Although West Brom secured all three points at The Hawthorns, it will be a different test on the road, and they will look to improve their woeful away record from last season.
With the atmosphere set to be roaring at Wrexham, Phil Parkinson’s side have been backed to secure their first-ever Championship win.
- Wrexham were in League Two just two years ago, but back-to-back promotions under owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney has them competing in the Championship again.
Wrexham were beaten in the final minute by Southampton in their opening game, having led for most of the 90 minutes before the Saints’ dramatic fightback, but they did secure a penalty shootout victory over Hull City in the Carabao Cup.

West Brom need to improve away record
West Brom’s away record under Tony Mowbray in the second half of last season was astonishingly bad, as they failed to win any of their nine matches on the road.
The Baggies recorded just four away victories in the entire campaign, and all of these came under Carlos Corberan, with the final one coming in November 2024.
A win at Wrexham would be the best way for Mason to address this issue, as it goes beyond tactics and quality, but West Brom fans will be unhappy at the choice of referee.
The lack of away wins has left West Brom out of confidence on the road, and a victory against the odds can help get rid of this mental block and allow the side to progress and start picking up more points in away games.
