Michael Dawson shares what Mason will be thinking at West Brom after Price goal vs Wrexham
Ryan Mason has had a dream start to life at West Brom after the 3-2 win against Wrexham.
The former Tottenham coach was hired as Tony Mowbray’s successor in his first role in management earlier this summer.
His task is to bring West Brom back to the Premier League, and his side seemed to have started that assignment with flying colours.
The Albion were facing a Wrexham side that had been tipped for promotion themselves, but Mason’s men took the lead in the first half through the in-form Isaac Price.
The hosts would fire back as the half-time break approached, but another from Price and a Jed Wallace strike would give the Baggies victory, despite a late Sam Smith consolation.

Price opened the scoring with his second strike in as many Championship matches.
The Northern Irish international put the ball beyond Danny Ward from a typical Tom Fellows cross to give the Baggies the lead at the Racecourse Stadium on 16 August.
Michael Dawson joked that his former Spurs colleague would be feeling like management is far too easy after Price opened the scoring.
Speaking on Sky Sports News after footage of the goal (16 August, 12:51), he said: “Ryan Mason will be thinking this job is easy, being a manager.”
Mason can count on Price to step up
Price has already passed his tally of two goal contributions from last season and looks set to be a key figure for the Baggies this season.
He has finally adapted to the second tier after joining the B71 club in January, halfway through the previous campaign.
- Price scored one goal and notched one assist in 15 Championship matches last season
That could be a scary proposition for the rest of the league, if the 21-year-old continues in his current vein of form.
He could be the man to fire Mason’s side to promotion, or at the very least, a play-off berth at the end of the season.
The former Everton youth academy gem is already Albion’s next star, after Torbjorn Heggem, who was voted as Player’s Player of the Season, left to join Serie A side Bologna.
Mason needs somebody to step up and be a talisman, and the ex-Standard Liege star could be that man who stands up to be counted.
It was an absolutely huge result for the Throstles, and Price was at the heart of it. They need to keep him at all costs.
