Ryan Mason has just accomplished something West Brom have not managed in 279 days

West Brom have recorded back-to-back wins to kick-start the Championship season, with an impressive 3-2 victory at Wrexham on Saturday.

Isaac Price scored twice, either side of a Jed Wallace strike, to hand West Brom the win, with newly-promoted Wrexham still yet to pick up a point.

Ryan Mason has continued his bright start at The Hawthorns with a 100 per cent win rate in the Championship, and there is plenty of reason for optimism for the upcoming season.

West Brom fell short of the play-offs under Tony Mowbray last season, but Mason has already addressed one key issue which plagued his return to the Baggies.

West Brom finally win away in Championship

West Brom’s win at Wrexham was remarkably their first away win in the Championship in 2025, after a dismal run since last November.

Corberan was the last West Brom manager to win away from home, with Mowbray failing to do so in nine attempts.

Mason has now ended this nightmare streak, and the mental aspect of winning away after so long, in his first attempt, cannot be understated.

Who will West Brom face away from home next?

West Brom will now have a lot more confidence heading into away games, with it now clear that this squad is capable of scoring outside of The Hawthorns.

The win was even more impressive when considering that it was Wrexham’s first home game, and West Brom fired a shot at the Hollywood-owned club after the full-time whistle.

Mason will have tougher tests ahead, though, and West Brom have some difficult away trips coming up within the next month.

The Baggies will face Stoke, Middlesbrough, Norwich and Millwall in their next four away league games, and all could prove to be tougher tests than Wrexham.

Nevertheless, owner Shilen Patel appeared delighted with West Brom’s win and will hope for more victories on the road as Mason’s side push for promotion back to the Premier League.
