Ryan Mason ‘pulls off masterclass’ as Isaac Price wowed by West Brom change
West Brom stormed to an impressive 3-2 victory at Wrexham on Saturday, and Isaac Price continued his outstanding start to the season.
Price has been West Brom’s best player so far in the campaign, and has now scored three times across two games.
The midfielder opened the scoring with a cool finish into the bottom corner, before netting West Brom’s third goal with a well-timed header.
Wrexham did score twice after some poor West Brom defending, but Price proved decisive as Ryan Mason’s side picked up all three points.

Price stands out in West Brom victory
Price was the best player on the pitch as West Brom beat Wrexham, and his all-around performance was impressive alongside his two goals.
The 21-year-old was a constant goal threat as he registered three shots overall, and his movement caused the Wrexham defence nightmares.
His first goal saw him execute a late run into space in the box and slot his finish beyond Danny Ward’s reach, opening the scoring in the 21st minute.
- Price has scored three times in two Championship games this season, having managed just one in 15 under Tony Mowbray.
- His goals have proven to be decisive in securing victories in both games.
The midfielder did not stop there, though, and his second also saw him dart into the area to head in Mikey Johnston’s cross, and there was a constant theme in both goals.
Mason’s arrival has seen Price line up as a number 10 behind Aune Heggebo, and his trust in the young starlet is now paying off for West Brom.

Price explains different role under Mason
Speaking to Sky Sports before kick-off, Price explained how Mason is getting the best out of him, with subtle changes from Mowbray’s use of the former Standard Liege star.
“I think the gaffer’s given me a lot of freedom since I joined,” Price explained.
“I think his ideas have been clear since he came in. He watched a lot of my games for Northern Ireland, which obviously helped, and he sees me as a number 10.
“The freedom that I’ve had has given me confidence to get more goals and assists.”
This freedom of movement was on full display against Wrexham, with Price enjoying the ability to roam across the attack rather than being confined to a strict midfield role, and with three goals in his opening two games, he is now one of the most in-form players in the Championship.
