Ryan Mason shares plans for Toby Collyer that will get Man United fans very excited

Ryan Mason has revealed his plans for Toby Collyer at West Brom, which is bound to excite Manchester United fans.

Collyer made his West Brom debut against Wrexham in the Championship, and United fans reacted positively on social media.

Such was the level of his performance that it was even suggested he would be a better option for Ruben Amorim than Manuel Ugarte.

Now, Albion’s head coach has revealed exactly how he intends to deploy the 21-year-old loan signing at The Hawthorns.

Ryan Mason lays out plans for Toby Collyer at West Brom

Collyer became West Brom’s 1,000th debutant in their history, and they will be hoping he is a landmark signing in more ways than one.

Indeed, Collyer came in for immense praise from Bruno Fernandes, and the midfielder is clearly rated at Old Trafford.

The 21-year-old came on as a late substitute for the Baggies and played nine minutes in their 3-2 victory over Wrexham.

Collyer replaced Isaac Price, who bagged two goals in the win, and played in a more advanced role in Mason’s midfield.

However, West Brom’s boss has highlighted his versatility and believes he can thrive as a number six, eight, or 10.

“I think there is loads of room and loads of growth for him to develop,” Mason told the Daily Mail on 19 August.

“He’s flexible and can play different positions. I know that we’ve got quite a bit of flexibility between our attacking play and our midfielders, different players who can do different things.”

The fact that Mason can see the youngster playing in so many different midfield positions is likely to get West Brom fans – and indeed Man United fans if he lives up to the hype – very excited.

Collyer will get more time to shine at The Hawthorns

While he may have only played a few minutes on his debut, Collyer is poised for a pivotal role in the West Midlands.

Last season, the midfielder made 14 senior appearances in all competitions, demonstrating the faith Amorim has in his ability.

Of course, there are the obstacles of Jayson Molumby, Alex Mowatt, and Price, but he will get his chance at some point.

The Championship season is a slog, and injuries and suspensions are bound to pave the way for the 21-year-old to play.

Loan signings can be pivotal in the second tier, and Mason will be banking on Collyer being a loan star this campaign.
