West Brom have two signings at ‘top of the list’ as transfer deadline day looms

West Brom are convinced that Ryan Mason needs more signings to compete in all competitions.

Mason was shown a red card in West Brom’s most recent draw to Portsmouth in the Championship.

Regan Poole’s tug on Aune Heggebo was the most talked-about moment of the game. But with three matches down and an unbeaten streak to maintain, Albion will be thinking about what happens next.

And with deadline day on the horizon, the Baggies will look to made a couple last-ditch efforts to strengthen their squad.

West Brom want a left-back and another attacking option

West Brom have had a small but strong summer transfer window, which could serve them for years to come.

In addition to Heggebo from Brann, Liverpool centre-back Nat Phillips also arrived at Albion. Meanwhile, George Campbell’s transfer from Montreal is another stand-out.

But the Baggies are still unsatisfied with their window and are looking for that cherry on the top signing.

As reported by West Brom insider Dood via X on 25 August, Albion are looking to sign two or three players before the deadline.

It is understood that a left-back and an attacking option are at the top of the list, as well as a centre-back if someone leaves.

The Baggies are open to signing a keeper if a deal falls in place, but this is not a priority. In addition to incomings, Albion are expected to see a couple of players leave before 1 September.

Who could land at West Brom before the deadline?

Albion have several files they could close before the end of the summer.

One of them is James McConnell, and West Brom are one of several clubs interested in his services.

West Brom also have a concrete interest in Filip Beckman. The arrival of the Swedish defender could pave the way for Caleb Taylor to leave the club before the summer deadline.

With the days until the end of the window ticking away and numerous key areas needing attention, Albion fans can expect their club to accelerate on their final transfer dealings.
