West Brom set to repeat Torbjorn Heggem transfer trick as new defender eyed
West Brom remain in the market for more additions for the heart of their defence.
Nat Phillips arrived earlier in the summer, with George Campbell and Krystian Bielik joining him in the Black Country later on in the window.
The retirement of Kyle Bartley, followed by the sale of Torbjorn Heggem, meant Albion needed to recruit in that position, or they risked being short of numbers in that position.
They do not seem to have finished spending there, however, as another centre-back could potentially make his way to The Hawthorns.

Filip Beckman could be West Brom’s latest defensive arrival
Beckman, 22, has been linked with a move to West Brom, with any deal effectively being the nail in the coffin for Caleb Taylor’s Albion career.
Beckman currently plies his trade for GAIS in the Swedish top flight, and knowing how well Heggem made the switch from Sweden to the Championship, West Brom will be looking to repeat that same trick.
- Heggem signed for the Baggies from IF Brommapojkarna last summer for under £600,000
- The defender was superb for West Brom last season, featuring 45 times in the Championship for them
- The Norwegian was sold after just one season for a tidy profit, with the Baggies receiving a fee of around £10million
With the Baggies getting off to a positive start to life under Ryan Mason, Beckman may find it hard to force his way into the team should he sign for the Black Country outfit, but the depth he will provide will be incredibly useful.

Filip Beckman’s arrival could be bad news for Darnell Furlong
Although Campbell has started this season primarily as a centre-back, the American did fill in at right-back in Furlong’s absence after he was sent off on the opening day against Blackburn.
If Beckman were to sign and provide more depth at centre-back, Mason may be more likely to use Campbell at right-back, providing some much-needed competition for Furlong.
This would leave Beckman to battle it out with Bielik to see who would partner Phillips at the back in Mason’s backline.
