Winners and losers from Chris Mepham transfer at West Brom include George Campbell
Chris Mepham has agreed a deal to join West Brom from Bournemouth.
The Wales international spent last season on loan at Sunderland, helping the Black Cats achieve a long-awaited return to the Premier League.
Mepham will now play alongside former Bournemouth team-mate Nat Phillips to form a strong foundation for West Brom to mount a promotion charge under Ryan Mason.
With Mepham set to undergo a medical at West Brom, there will be winners and losers of the transfer, including George Campbell.

Loser – George Campbell
The 24-year-old has started the last three West Brom games and has put in some good performances so far.
Campbell left CF Montreal to join the Baggies this summer, yet the signing of Mepham may mean his position in the starting XI faces some jeopardy.
Mepham is incredibly experienced at this level, with five seasons of Championship football under his belt.
As a result, Mason will almost certainly be favouring Mepham to partner Nat Philipps.

Winner: Nat Phillips
Phillips joined West Brom from Liverpool this summer, excelling in his first three Championship games for the club.
Phillips has been widely praised by Baggies fans for his aggressive and brave defending, and has helped West Brom maintain their unbeaten start to the Championship season.
Stat | Nat Phillips |
Tackles won (per cent) | 100 |
Duels won (per cent) | 55.3 |
Aerial duels won (per cent) | 57.7 |
Mepham’s transfer can only raise Phillips’ level, and seems to be a perfect replacement for departed West Brom ace Torjorn Heggem.

Winner – Josh Griffiths
The young goalkeeper is set to have another top-quality defender playing in front of him in Mepham.
Griffiths, who has risen through the academy ranks, has started well as he establishes himself as West Brom’s number one.
Having been on numerous loan spells, the 23-year-old seems ready to be West Brom’s main man in between the sticks.
With the addition of Mepham, Griffiths will have much greater help when it comes to preserving clean sheets and seeing out games.
