Fans all say same thing about Ipswich Town after Darnell Furlong update at West Brom
Darnell Furlong is set to make the switch to Ipswich Town in what has been a tough day for West Brom.
Furlong is set to sign for Ipswich in a move worth £3.5million, rising to £4million after add-ons, leaving the Baggies with just a few days to find a replacement.
Ryan Mason has also been given a fine for his actions in the 1-1 draw with Portsmouth, and Tom Fellows is close to a move to Southampton, which will compound the misery on The Albion.
With Furlong heading to Ipswich, West Brom supporters are all saying the same thing about the transfer.

Supporters call Ipswich the West Brom ‘feeder club’
In February, West Brom sold goalkeeper Alex Palmer to Ipswich, and are set to give the Tractor Boys another transfer boost with the sale of Furlong.
Despite interest from Mason’s side this summer, Cedric Kipre chose not to rejoin West Brom and joined the Suffolk side instead.
When Furlong completes his move to Ipswich, the Tractor Boys will have plenty of former West Brom players.
Ipswich players who have previously played for West Brom:
- Alex Palmer (2015-2025)
- Conor Townsend (2018-2024)
- Cedric Kipre (2020-2024)
- Dara O’Shea (2017-2023)
- David Button (2020-2023)
Ipswich could now have a potential six former Baggies players in their ranks, which supporters have been quick to point out.
All six play across the backline, and fans indicated how Ipswich’s new-look defence failed to get The Albion promoted.
One X user said, “Guess Ipswich is officially running a West Brom reunion tour. Next thing you know, they’ll be signing the tea lady.”
Another added: “Ipswich feeder club”.
To add to all the links between Ipswich and West Brom, the Tractor Boys’ chairman Mark Ashton is a former Baggies player and supporter.
West Brom face huge problem in defence after another exit
Caleb Taylor is also set to make the switch from West Brom to Millwall.
The recruitment of Chris Mepham from Bournemouth doesn’t appear to be enough to fill the huge gap that will be left by all the departures in defence.
Furlong will surely need to be replaced, and after Torbjorn Heggem’s move to Bologna, the Baggies could be left with just three options at centre back.
Going into such an unpredictable stage of the transfer window, having lost so many defenders is a worry for Mason, who could come out the other side having missed out on key targets.
