Ipswich Town truly ripped off by West Brom as details of Darnell Furlong transfer emerge
West Brom have now agreed to sell Darnell Furlong to fellow Championship side Ipswich Town, in what is a masterstroke of a deal.
Furlong has played every Championship minute under Ryan Mason so far, but he will now depart for Ipswich, who were relegated from the Premier League last season.
West Brom lost Torbjorn Heggem to Bologna but have also signed other defenders, and have now sanctioned another exit from their back line.
While Furlong was a key player last season, West Brom will be delighted with the terms of the sale as the details over the transfer have now emerged.

West Brom to earn up to £4m from Darnell Furlong sale
Furlong joined West Brom from QPR for around £1.5 million in 2019, but they are now set to make a significant profit six years later.
John Percy has now reported via X that the fee to take Furlong to Ipswich is £3.5m guaranteed, with £500,000 in add-ons, meaning that West Brom will earn over double what they paid for him.
- Furlong has made 247 appearances for West Brom
- He has scored 11 goals and provided 14 assists
- The 29-year-old has two years remaining on his contract
Furlong started 42 games last season, but was often caught out defensively despite his ability going forward, and at 29 years of age, he is not going to get any better.
With the Baggies set to make a huge profit and potentially upgrade on Furlong with a younger player, this sale can be considered a masterclass, and Ipswich have clearly overpaid.
Darnell Furlong was a good servant for West Brom
West Brom fans will be happy to see Furlong depart in such a profitable deal, and a new right-back has been needed at The Hawthorns for some time.
Despite this, Furlong was a good servant for West Brom, appearing in both the Premier League and Championship, and he also wore the captain’s armband on several occasions.
It remains to be seen who will replace him, but with less than five days left in the window, West Brom have more business to do, and the profit from Furlong’s sale will help fund their remaining transfer deals.
