West Brom agree another sale on top of Tom Fellows and Darnell Furlong, medical set

West Brom are set for a busy climax to the end of the transfer window after a quiet summer so far.

Southampton’s long-term interest in Tom Fellows looks to be materialising as he is set for a £10million switch to the south coast.

West Brom right back Darnell Furlong is also closing in on a £4million move to Ipswich Town.

Following the two departures, incomings will be expected, but not before another exit is finalised.

Caleb Taylor set for West Brom exit after transfer update

Defence has been a position of concern for Ryan Mason this summer, with George Campbell and Nat Phillips brought in to avoid more worries at the back.

However, Torbjorn Heggem’s departure put a spanner in the works, but West Brom appear to have solved the issue by closing in on Chris Mepham.

In a major defensive shakeup, Caleb Taylor is now also set to leave West Brom.

According to The Mirror journalist Dan Marsh on X, Millwall are in the process of finalising a deal to sign Taylor, and he is set to undergo a medical.

There has been plenty of talk regarding Taylor’s future at West Brom this summer, and after the Lions lost Japhet Tanganga to Sheffield United, they have pounced on the opportunity to sign the youngster.

Baggies fans had been hopeful just a few days ago of promotion this season after their strong start.

News on potential exits had also gone quiet, but losing another defender this summer will give Mason plenty to think about.

Will West Brom sign another centre back?

When Mepham arrives at West Brom, he will surely partner former Bournemouth teammate Phillips at centre back.

However, the departure of Furlong and Taylor calls for more depth at the back.

It will be interesting to see whether they go down the route of signing a more versatile defender, such as Campbell, or a more direct centre back.

Given that Taylor wasn’t a regular for the Baggies, they could also sign another youngster in his place.

Following Furlong’s departure, they will need to sign a right-back, but central defence isn’t such a pressing matter, and The Albion could instead focus on finding a replacement for Fellows.
