‘Disgraceful’ – West Brom fans in meltdown over ‘pathetic’ deadline day transfer news
West Brom’s last-minute deadline day business could come back to haunt them later this season.
West Brom’s 1-0 win over Stoke City in the Championship has fed the belief that Albion are destined for promotion this season.
There was scepticism when Ryan Mason was appointed West Brom head coach, with it being his first permanent managerial role. But the former Tottenham assistant coach continues to prove the doubters wrong.
Albion has had some movement in the transfer window. However, West Brom were tipped to arm Mason with more recruits in the final hours of the transfer window. While the Baggies are still keen to stick with their intentions, some Albion fans are far from pleased with their club’s approach.

West Brom fans react to Samuel Iling-Junior loan decision
West Brom have had an eventful summer transfer window with several new arrivals and departures landing at The Hawthorns.
Nat Phillips signed for West Brom from Liverpool, as well as George Campbell and Krystian Bielik, to help strengthen the Baggies’ defence. This comes after Semi Ajayi left West Brom for Hull City on a free transfer.
As reported by Lewis Cox via X on 1 September, Albion are targeting a left-back on top of Samuel Iling-Junior’s loan to complete their summer window. The latter is seen as an attacking option, and there is a firm belief in the squad already assembled.
Iling-Junior will arrive at West Brom on loan in an attempt to lessen the fallout from West Brom academy player Tom Fellows’ move to Southampton for a £10million fee.
However, West Brom fans do not believe that the Baggies have enough right-wing options to compete. Under the above post, one user commented: “That’s disgraceful. Where the f*ck are the wingers! Who’s playing rw? Wallace and Johnstone? Pathetic. Absolutely pocketed all the money from the fellows.”
Meanwhile, another said: “Yeah, let’s sell our best winger for nothing and then not replace him, this won’t end badly.” One more fan added: “No winger don’t get it, we got 1 right winger Jed Wallace, he can’t do it all himself, why sell Tom fellows with no replacement?”
Another said: “So where’s the fellows replacement then?”, while one more was left upset by the structure of Iling-Junior’s deal, he said: “There is no way we are replacing Fellows with a loan…”

Samuel Iling-Junior’s versatility could surprise West Brom fans
The Aston Villa player is actually more versatile than he first appears, which could be a huge boost to Mason’s title hopes.
Iling-Junior primarily played as a left-back last season, but also put in some shifts on the left wing. More importantly, he played seven games on the right wing, scoring two goals from this position.
Position | Games played |
Left-back | 9 |
Right winger | 7 |
Left winger | 7 |
Right midfield | 1 |
In addition to this, he can play as a right midfielder if needs be, which will be useful to fill in any gaps left by injuries throughout the season.
As a result, while another pure right-wing option would be ideal at Albion, Iling-Junior could be enough to see the Baggies through to at least the winter window.
