Shock West Brom transfer update on final deadline day signing as Iling-Junior announced
West Brom have completed the signing of Samuel Iling-Junior on a season-long loan deal.
The Aston Villa youngster has completed his switch to B71, becoming the Baggies’ eighth addition of what is becoming an increasingly busy summer.
Iling-Junior has been a long-term target for West Brom, and has finally arrived at The Hawthorns to strengthen the depth in the final third of the pitch.
Ryan Mason’s side have begun the new campaign in bright fashion, but Iling-Junior’s announcement has brought with it a piece of news that will come as a surprise to fans.

Charlie Taylor will be final West Brom signing
West Brom are close to signing Charlie Taylor, with the left-back undergoing a medical on Monday afternoon ahead of his move to join the Black Country outfit.
The veteran was relegated from the top flight with Southampton last term, and he appears to be about to get a fresh start with Mason’s men on the verge of securing another loan deal.
The arrival of the former Leeds United and Burnley man would take Albion’s tally of summer additions to an impressive nine, as the new boss appears to have successfully moulded the team into his image.
Taylor’s imminent signing is to be the final action of the window for the Baggies, with BBC West Midlands’ Steve Hermon reporting via his X account that he will “likely” be the last new addition.
West Brom have no Tom Fellows replacement
West Brom fans have been fuming with Tom Fellows’ sale, and they have every right to be frustrated with that decision from the hierarchy now that the extent of their last-minute business has become clear.
Fellows has been at the centre of interest for large parts of the window, but the Baggies opted to wait until an extremely late stage before settling on a sale.
- Fellows notched 14 assists in the league last term
- Iling-Junior recorded just three goal contributions during a 16-game loan stint with Middlesbrough in 2024/25
- He has spent time in Serie A with Juventus and Bologna but made just four starts
They have now been left in a situation where they have been unable to secure a top-quality replacement for their departed starlet.
Iling-Junior is undoubtedly a player with plenty of promise and a big future ahead of him, but he has done nothing in his career so far to suggest that he will be able to replicate the influence that Fellows had at The Hawthorns.
No Championship player notched more assists than the winger last term, and Albion fans’ frustration at his exit is certainly understandable.
