West Brom in hunt for late permanent right-winger deal, Devante Cole replacement also lined up

West Brom are preparing themselves for a blockbuster end to the summer transfer window.

Samuel Iling-Junior is already set to arrive at The Hawthorns on loan from Aston Villa but Ryan Mason is also looking at other options to bolster his attack.

Iling-Junior spent the second half of last season on loan at Middlesbrough, playing largely as a left-sided wing-back or on the left-wing.

It’s now being reported with just hours left of the summer transfer window that Mason and Andrew Nestor are also lining up a new right-sided attacker.

Devante Cole available to leave as West Brom eye more attackers

As well as a new right-winger, West Brom are also open to letting Devante Cole leave.

According to the reliable insider information account West Brom Xtra, Cole is “attracting late interest” from other clubs.

It’s been reported elsewhere this summer that Reading and Port Vale have been keen on Cole.

It is understood that if the 30-year-old back-up striker leaves The Hawthorns, there are also strikers lined up to potentially replace him in a deadline-busting move.

As for the identity of these players, it remains to be seen.

Iling-Junior is the only player named as an incoming signing for West Brom at this late stage of the summer transfer window but it’s likely that as the day goes on, identities will be revealed.

How will PSR affect West Brom’s late deals?

West Brom have sold Tom Fellows and Torbjorn Heggem for big fees this summer.

While many fans wanted more than £10million for Fellows, who’s joined Southampton, £20million for the pair of them, plus £4million for Darnell Furlong and £2.5million for Caleb Taylor represents good business.

Fellows’ £10million move to Southampton wasn’t just for PSR purposes; Albion are still paying off a loan to MSD Holdings, and player sales can be put towards reducing interest payments on that.

There’s no doubt that there will be certain ways of structuring deals that mean they will keep within the EFL’s PSR limits, so it’s probably not something West Brom fans need to be too worried about right now.

The main thing is ensuring that Mason has an attack that can score more goals because while Albion have started the Championship season well, Aune Heggebo doesn’t seem like a 20-plus-goal striker.

He needs all the help he can get to score goals.
