West Brom new top transfer priority emerges after Samuel Iling-Junior update
West Brom will be hoping to complete one more signing before the summer transfer window ends.
It is a race against the clock for West Brom to arm Ryan Mason with enough cavalry to see the season through.
The former Tottenham assistant coach has had a splendid start to the season. After West Brom’s win over Stoke City, they are fourth in the table, two points behind league-leaders Middlesbrough.
The Baggies will be hoping to maintain this stellar run throughout the season. But for that, Albion will need reinforcements.

West Brom signs Samuel Iling-Junior
As reported by westbrom.fc via X on Monday, 1 September, Samuel Iling-Junior’s signing at West Brom is done.
Left-back options are now being considered and have emerged as Albion’s main priority. Barring any late-minute deals or changes, that should be the final bit of business for the Baggies’ 2025/26 summer window.
Charlie Taylor seems to be West Brom’s first option to sign at left-back. This comes after Gianluca Frabotta left West Brom to sign for Cesena on a free transfer.
The Baggies have a stellar defensive record in the Championship thus far, conceding three goals and keeping three clean sheets. The hope will be that Taylor further improves this record.

How has West Brom enhanced their defence?
Albion has seen several incomings and outgoings at the back this summer.
Torbjorn Heggem left West Brom to sign for Bologna, while Darnell Furlong transferred to fellow Championship side Ipswich Town.
Other departures include:
- Caleb Taylor on loan to Milwall
- Kyle Bartley retired from football at the age of 34
- Mason Holgate’s loan spell from Everton came to an end
But the Baggies have stocked up well. George Campbell arrived from the MLS side Montreal, while centre-backs Krystian Bielik and Chris Mepham have also been signed. Meanwhile, defensive midfielder Toby Collyer is currently on loan with West Ham from Manchester United.
As such, while Albion have seen several departures in the defensive sectors, their recruitment has been off the charts. And if their record in the Championship so far is anything to go by, it’s paid off in abundance.
