Shilen Patel shares heartfelt message as huge West Brom departure confirmed

West Brom have gone through something of a transition period throughout the summer.

Bilkul have continued to paint the Baggies in their image following their takeover, and they have overseen plenty of changes both on and off the pitch in the last few months.

Tom Fellows was sold by West Brom in the latter stages of the window, as he followed fellow key man Torbjorn Heggem out of the door.

Ryan Mason’s arrival in the dugout is also a significant change, and the Black Country outfit have just confirmed yet another move that will add to the new-look feel at the club.

Shilen Patel speaks out as West Brom confirm Mark Miles exit

Mark Miles has played a big role at West Brom over the years, not least when Bilkul were going through the process of buying the club.

The Baggies’ Managing Director has given 22 years of service in B71, having previously stood as a Director of the club, and also a Trustee of The Albion Foundation.

However, it has now been confirmed that he will step down from his current role as of next Monday.

The departing Albion chief has told the official website that it has been a “privilege” to work at the club for such a lengthy period of time, and also extended warm wishes to Shilen Patel for the future.

West Brom’s chairman added a heartfelt message of gratitude to Miles, in which he thanked him for the leadership that he has shown over the years.

“I have Mark (Miles) to thank for introducing me to the passion, togetherness, and history of The Albion,” Patel said.

“His leadership, along with the tireless efforts of so many, enabled the club to persist through a very dark period and find its current footing and path towards higher goals.”

Albion have opportunity to restructure

Patel’s time at West Brom has been hugely positive so far, and he now faces a big decision on his hands as to how he wishes to make up for the loss of Miles.

Albion have already suggested that changes to their structure behind the scenes could be announced in the aftermath, and it provides a big opportunity to take the club in a different direction, if that is what’s desired.

Things have changed drastically on the footballing side at The Hawthorns since the conclusion of last season, so it would be no surprise to see the view taken that now would be a good time for the operational side to follow.

Only time will tell what plans Patel has for the aftermath of this announcement, but Albion fans can surely trust that he will act with the club’s best interests at heart as usual.
