West Brom must take record-breaking stance on Isaac Price to fend off Premier League interest

Isaac Price is continuing to make a name for himself after moving to West Brom last January.

The attacking midfielder made a bright start to his time with the Baggies at the end of last season, but he now looks ready to take his game to the next level this term.

Price’s reputation at West Brom is growing rapidly, and his exploits on the international stage are also seeing him catch the eye on a regular basis.

The 21-year-old netted Northern Ireland’s only goal in their 3-1 defeat to Germany in World Cup qualifying on Sunday, and became the youngest ever player to notch 10 goals for his country in the process.

Ryan Mason has handled the youngster excellently so far during his stint in B71, and it has now become abundantly clear what he and the club need to do regarding his future.

Isaac Price should only leave West Brom for a club-record fee

West Brom will need to manage Price’s future carefully in the next few months, given the interest that they received in him over the summer.

Several Premier League sides were keen to prize him away from The Hawthorns, despite the fact that he was just 15 games into his stint in the Black Country at that stage.

He already has five goal contributions in the first five games of the season in all competitions, and with him consistently producing for his country as well, that interest will only continue to build in January.

With that in mind, it is imperative that the Baggies take a very firm stance on their star man if they want to fend off Premier League sides in the long term.

Salomon Rondon stands as their record sale at present, from when he moved to China for £15.8million back in 2019.

Albion surely have to make it very clear to any potential suitors in the winter that they will need to smash that record if they want to secure Price’s signature, or they will not entertain any discussions about a deal.

Torbjorn Heggem and Tom Fellows sales have Albion in strong position

Tom Fellows’ West Brom departure in the final days of the window caused plenty of frustration at the time, but it could have a positive effect moving forward.

The sales of Fellows and Torbjorn Heggem provided a serious boost to the Baggies’ coffers, as they raked in over £20m in transfer fees.

That could hold massive significance when it comes to any approaches for Price in January, as the Championship side are certainly not in need of cash at the moment.

Throw in the fact that the former Standard Liege man is under contract until 2029, and it may take a fee way beyond the Baggies’ current record sale to tempt them into doing business.
