Ex-West Brom manager now ‘shock’ candidate for Sheffield United job
Sheffield United have had a disastrous start to the Championship season.
There could not have been a worse possible way to kick off the league campaign for the Blades, as they sit bottom of the table without a single point, now managerless.
West Brom, on the other hand, have won three of their first five games and currently sit in the top six.
The impressive start to the season saw Ryan Mason nominated for Championship Manager of the Month in August.
But a disappointing defeat at Derby County at home saw West Brom fans take to social media to voice their frustrations at the performance.
Mason’s team will next be in action on Friday, but another manager with previous history at the Baggies could be in place at Bramall Lane soon after Ruben Selles’ sacking.

Tony Mowbray linked with taking over at Sheffield United
The Baggies had their play-off hopes frustratingly end last season as they lost five of six games between the end of March and most of April.
That form was enough to see Tony Mowbray get sacked.
Following his departure, Mowbray was immediately linked with other clubs in the Championship, and he could now be on his way to South Yorkshire.
Alan Nixon of The Sun reported on Patreon that Mowbray was on standby for a “shock” return to management with Sheffield United.
After recovering from health troubles, he could be appointed with no compensation.
Despite some shocking West Brom stats under Mowbray’s management last season, his experience could prove vital in stabilising Sheffield United.
Tony Mowbray is exactly what Sheffield United need
In a crisis like the one Sheffield United currently finds itself in, bringing in someone who is proven in the Championship will be vital.
Mowbray might have ended his time at West Brom poorly, but he still had the team in the top half of the table.
This Sheffield United side is far too good to be where they are. Last season, they were only 90 minutes away from making a return to the Premier League.
There is still plenty of quality in that Sheffield United team, and Mowbray can be the change that helps those players turn around their season.
With most of the media focused on Chris Wilder possibly returning again, Mowbray may be a surprise candidate should that go wrong.
West Brom fans will be watching closely.
