Shilen Patel thrilled with latest ‘incredible’ West Brom announcement

Shilen Patel and Bilkul Football will be hoping for bigger and better things under Ryan Mason at West Brom.

The Baggies find themselves fifth in the league table after losing to Derby County at The Hawthorns on 13 September.

Andreas Weimann’s 84th-minute strike was enough for John Eustace’s team as they handed the Albion their first loss of the league campaign.

The Black Country outfit hold ambitions of promotion this season, and major developments on and off the pitch can undoubtedly help them achieve their goals.

Andrew Nestor appointed West Brom president

Andrew Nestor has been appointed as the Baggies’ president, with Patel excited for what’s to come.

The Albion’s sporting director has now been handed more responsibilities at The Hawthorns and will oversee the restructuring of the leadership team and manage all the functions at the club.

Ashish Patel has also been appointed as the chief marketing officer, while Ethan Gobetz is the new chief financial officer.

The Black Country outfit’s chairman wrote on X on 17 September: “Looking forward to Nestor building on the foundational progress in our sporting organisation as president. He will lead an incredible team at the club, now augmented by decades of executive experience in sport, media, and finance, for the next step in our journey.”

Bilkul Football turn things around at The Hawthorns

Nestor’s transfer business at The Hawthorns last summer was commendable, using the money from Torbjorn Heggem’s sale to bolster the backline.

The Baggies made nine signings in the previous transfer window, getting deals for the likes of Nat Phillips, Chris Mepham and Alfie Gilchrist over the line.

Aune Heggebo also arrived in B71 to reinforce the attack and has shown glimpses of his talent in the first few matches.

West Brom lost Tom Fellows to Southampton, but they seem to still have enough quality in their squad to make a push for promotion.

Under Lai Guochuan, the Baggies seemed to be in a financial crisis, but Patel and Bilkul have managed to alleviate most of the concerns since completing their takeover in 2024.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Black Country outfit under the new leadership group.
