West Brom predicted XI vs Middlesbrough — Iling-Junior starts as debut handed

Ryan Mason should make some changes to his starting lineup as West Brom face Middlesbrough on Friday.

Rob Edwards’ team will travel to The Hawthorns on 19 September as the Baggies look to bounce back from their previous defeat.

The Albion’s unbeaten run in the Championship ended against Derby County at home on 13 September, with Andreas Weimann’s late goal breaking hearts in B71.

Now the Black Country outfit will be aiming to close the gap at the top of the table with a win over Boro, and West Brom News look at how they may line up.

Alfie Gilchrist to make West Brom debut vs Middlesbrough

Mason may look to make at least three changes to his starting lineup for the trip to the Riverside Stadium.

George Campbell has done well playing out of position at right-back, but the Middlesbrough fixture could potentially be the right time to play Alfie Gilchrist in the backline.

The midfielder pairing of Jayson Molumby and Alex Mowatt has been solid this season, while Isaac Price has pulled the strings in the number 10 role.

Samuel Iling-Junior should come into the team in place of Jed Wallace, while Mikey Johnston keeps his place, but it may also be time for Josh Maja to start over Aune Heggebo.

West Brom can level on points with Middlesbrough

Mason is aiming for Premier League promotion at The Hawthorns, and that will undoubtedly require consistency from the Baggies.

The Albion were second behind Middlesbrough before losing to Derby and will now want to push up the table once again with a win at the Riverside Stadium.

Boro have won the last three fixtures against the Black Country outfit, but things are completely different this time around.

West Brom have an in-form Price at their disposal, and the Northern Ireland international will certainly be relied upon in North Yorkshire.

Maja could provide the finishing touches in the final third that the Baggies have been missing this season, with Heggebo failing to score in the Championship so far.

It will be interesting to see how the Black Country outfit react against Boro after their recent setback in the league.
