West Brom issued Isaac Price warning as worrying transfer update emerges

Isaac Price is on red-hot form for West Brom and is showing zero signs of slowing down.

West Brom were handed their first Championship defeat against Derby County on Saturday.

It was supposed to be a joyous occasion. The Hawthorns was celebrating its 125th birthday against the Rams and Ryan Mason was determined to extend his unbeaten streak in the Championship.

But a late goal from former Baggies forward Andreas Weimann meant the day ended in misery. Price was a shining star in a sea of darkness during the confrontation, constantly attempting to make things happen like he has throughout the season.

As such, the attacking midfielder has been recognised for what he brings to Albion.

West Brom fans told to ‘enjoy’ Isaac Price while they can

West Brom star Price is an exciting Championship talent who Baggies’ loan player manager Chris Brunt believes is a “breath of fresh air” at Albion.

However, former head of media at the Baggies, Chris Lepkowski, believes that West Brom fans need to “enjoy” him while they can before he moves on to another club.

Speaking on Albion fan podcast The Liquidator on 14 September, he said: “I honestly think we’re in the unusual position of having possibly the standout footballer in the Championship playing for us right now. He’s that good.

“I know somebody who knew him at Leige in Belgium, and the feedback was we need to enjoy this player while we’ve got him because he won’t be here for long.

“That really underlines the notion that we picked up somebody who’s very much on the up. Who can offer something different and has the potential to be a really important player for us over the next year or however long we have him for.

“I hope we have him for the entire season. I don’t think we’ll be under pressure to sell him before then. But I do feel that with the way his career is going, it’s about enjoying him while you can because he is some prospect.”

Isaac Price has a creativity problem

Price has been a huge goalscoring threat for the Baggies, netting three in all competitions this season.

This feat means he is Albion’s current top scorer, rising above Aune Heggebo, who hasn’t scored in the Championship for Albion

However, creating goal-scoring opportunities has been a downside of the attacking midfielder’s game. In four Championship games, he has registered 0.3 expected assists, but has failed to create a single big chance this season.

Big chances created0
Key passes2.0 per 90

Accurate crosses 18%

This means that even with an assist to his name, the quality of his chances has been subpar for the most part. His crosses have not been much better, recording an 18 per cent cross accuracy in the league.

As good as Price has been this season, there are several areas he can improve in his game to reach the next level for Albion.
