Andrew Nestor reacts as West Brom complete out-of-window transfer
West Brom’s owners have made no secret of their ambitions for the club.
Shilen Patel and Bilkul Football are aiming to bring the Baggies back to the Premier League, where they feel the club belongs.
Andrew Nestor was recently announced as Club President, where he will combine his role as Sporting Director.
West Brom lost 1-0 at home to Derby at the weekend, but have otherwise made a solid start to the season, sitting fifth.
The owners continue to try to improve the squad as the project under Ryan Mason gets underway in its first campaign.

Andrew Nestor gives seal of approval to new signing
There has been a lot of squad turnover at The Hawthorns this summer as the Baggies look to return to the top-flight under Mason.
Nestor did a lot of West Brom’s business early in the transfer window, but that hasn’t stopped the club from continuing to improve the squad.
The club announced the signing of Youth goalkeeper Brian Okonkwo on a one-year deal following a successful trial period.
The 19-year-old, who began his career at Arsenal, is the younger brother of Arthur, who plays between the sticks for fellow Championship side Wrexham.
Nestor reacted to this news on X by quoting the original post from the club, with the Baggies’ colours of blue and white.
Okonkwo will join the clubs’ U-21 side initially but could be a name to keep an eye on in the future.
Andrew Nestor will be key to West Brom’s promotion charge
Nestor came under some criticism for the sale of Tom Fellows this summer, but was confident they received the right offer for the winger who moved to Southampton.
The Sporting Director was behind the Baggies’ summer recruitment drive, where the club brought in nine players, both permanently and on loan.
Nat Phillips and Samuel Iling-Junior are two examples of the club’s strategy of signing both experienced and younger players with high potential.
5 Most Expensive Summer Signings | Fee paid |
Aune Heggebø (SK Brann) | £4.75 million |
Nat Phillips (Liverpool) | £3 million |
Alfie Gilchrist (Chelsea) | £2 million |
George Campbell (CF Montreal) | £1.1 million |
Krystian Bielik (Birmingham) | £1 million |
West Brom’s business in the summer appears smart so far, with most of the signings appearing to be hitting the ground running.
If Nestor can continue to recruit smartly, paired with Mason getting results on the pitch, it won’t be long until West Brom are Premier League-bound once more.
