Ryan Mason set for huge West Brom change with Alex Mowatt vs Middlesbrough

West Brom face a tough test against Middlesbrough in the Championship on Friday.

Rob Edwards and Ryan Mason will go head-to-head as the Baggies travel to the Riverside Stadium on 19 September.

The Albion will be looking to bounce back after losing to Derby County at The Hawthorns, which was their first league defeat of the season.

The former Tottenham coach should look to make changes to his starting lineup in North Yorkshire, and one of them could potentially be in the middle of the park.

Toby Collyer to start over Alex Mowatt in Middlesbrough vs West Brom

Mason should consider starting Toby Collyer, 21, over Alex Mowatt against Middlesbrough.

In the previous fixture against the Rams, the Manchester United loanee had an impressive cameo, with 88 per cent passing accuracy and playing one key pass, as per Sofascore.

As for Mowatt, he lost possession 11 times, lost five of his ground duels, made three fouls and was dribbled past twice at The Hawthorns as John Eustace’s team took the three points after an 84th-minute winner from Andreas Weimann.

The English manager may look to replace the 30-year-old Englishman with Collyer, who can certainly bring more creativity to the Black Country outfit’s team.

Ryan Mason will look to change records vs Middlesbrough

Mason can’t let Middlesbrough win at the Riverside Stadium, having already beaten the Baggies in their last three meetings.

The last time Boro won four games in a row against the Albion was between 1994 and 1997, and fans in B71 won’t want a repeat of that.

The English manager will also be looking to change the Black Country outfit’s prospects away from The Hawthorns, after winning just one of 20 consecutive games on the road last season.

West Brom should also axe Aune Heggebo from the starting lineup and instead give Josh Maja the opportunity to lead the line against Middlesbrough.

The Norway international has shown glimpses of his talent at The Hawthorns, but he has failed to seize his chances.

Another change up front may see Samuel Iling-Junior get his first start for the Baggies, but it remains to be seen what the English manager decides.
