West Brom send heartfelt message to Hannah Hampton after official UEFA announcement

Hannah Hampton is undoubtedly one of the most famous West Brom fans in football at the moment.

The England Women’s goalkeeper starred in her team’s victorious European Championships campaign in the summer, as she saved two penalties in the shootout to down Spain in the final.

Hampton is a well-known West Brom supporter, and previously received a message of support from David Beckham following her exploits in that shootout.

She is a recognisable face at The Hawthorns, and the Baggies have now issued their own message of support following a notable night in the shot stopper’s career.

West Brom congratulate Hannah Hampton on Yachine Trophy award

Hampton was present at The Hawthorns for West Brom’s season opener against Blackburn at the start of August, as she still has close ties with the club.

The Birmingham-born ‘keeper spent time in the early stages of her career at both Birmingham City and Aston Villa, before moving to join Chelsea in 2023.

She starred for the Blues as they completed an entire WSL season unbeaten last term, with Hampton keeping an eye-catching 13 clean sheets from just 22 games.

The 24-year-old also established herself as her country’s number one and seized her moment in the spotlight with both hands during the Euros.

Hampton has now received glowing recognition from UEFA, as she was awarded the Yachine Trophy for being the best female goalkeeper at the Ballon D’Or ceremony on Monday night.

Her beloved West Brom have since issued a message of support to the star via their X account, as they handed a “massive congratulations” to their famous fan.

The Baggies need to keep close ties with Hannah Hampton

West Brom chairman Shilen Patel met up with Hampton at the Blackburn game on the opening day of the season and described her as “inspirational.”

The Baggies chief extended a warm welcome to her for future matches for both the men’s and women’s teams, and having somebody like that as a fan of the club can only help Albion.

Hampton is a perfect role model for young girls and boys who love football, and could be an extremely valuable member of the fanbase in B71.

Patel and the club need to ensure that they retain their close relationship with the England ‘keeper, as it could potentially open the door for something like an ambassadorial role later down the line.
