West Brom desperate for revenge following Jamie Vardy’s cheeky jibe while at Leicester
West Brom will be desperate to get revenge on Leicester City when the pair meet on Friday night.
The Baggies have seen their bright start to the new Championship season crumble somewhat in recent weeks, and they will be gunning to get their campaign back on track after back-to-back defeats.
West Brom slipped to defeat at Middlesbrough in their last outing, but they have the perfect chance to set the record straight with another Friday night clash this week.
It looks likely to be a mouth-watering clash under the lights at The Hawthorns, and the hosts have even more incentive than usual to go out and get three points.

West Brom want to avenge Jamie Vardy gesture in last Leicester City defeat
West Brom have a woeful recent record against Leicester, and that provides another interesting dimension to Friday night’s encounter.
The Black Country outfit have won just one of their last 11 competitive clashes with the Foxes, and haven’t beaten them on home turf since 2010.
As if the opportunity to put that dismal record to bed wasn’t enough, a moment that took place following their most recent meeting could add even more fuel to the fire.
- West Brom haven’t beaten Leicester since November 2016
- Their last home victory over the Foxes came in the Championship back in April 2010
- They have lost nine of their last 11 clashes with the East Midlands outfit
Jamie Vardy netted the winner for the East Midlands outfit in their 2-1 win over the Baggies in April 2024, and hit the headlines with a cheeky gesture towards the travelling Albion fans after full-time.
The veteran striker repeatedly pointed downwards while walking in front of the away end after the final whistle, and was seen continually mouthing “staying down” towards the Albion faithful, according to talkSPORT.
This was in reference to West Brom being inside the Championship play-off places at the time, and is sure to have left something of a bitter taste, given their subsequent semi-final defeat to Southampton.

Victory over Leicester would be a statement win for Albion
Ryan Mason may be inclined to change his West Brom team to take on Leicester, as they go in search of what would certainly be a statement victory.
The Foxes are one of several teams that are tipped to be fighting at the top of the division following their relegation from the Premier League last term, but they haven’t had the all-conquering start that many expected of them.
With that in mind, Albion have every reason to head into Friday’s clash with confidence, despite their recent drop-off in form.
Three points against the Foxes would be the perfect way for them to get their campaign back on track, whilst also sending a message out to the rest of the league that they are capable of beating the best in 2025/26.
