Aune Heggebo hailed for ‘outstanding’ moment in West Brom draw vs Leicester City
Aune Heggebo has been hailed for something he did for West Brom in their draw with Leicester City on Friday night.
The Norwegian has struggled for form in the Championship in recent weeks, and he is still relatively new to English football having only completed the switch from his homeland in the summer.
Heggebo turned in a bright display for West Brom in the draw over Leicester City on Friday, as Samuel Iling-Junior’s early strike was cancelled out by a stoppage-time own goal from Nat Phillips.
Ryan Mason has stood by the frontman in recent weeks, and his decision-making has been vindicated by a moment that the 24-year-old produced against the Foxes.

Aune Heggebo praised for ‘outstanding’ assist for West Brom goal
Heggebo’s spot in the West Brom team has come under threat in recent weeks, as Josh Maja has returned to full fitness.
There have been several calls from sections of the fanbase to see last seaosn’s top scorer handed the opportunity to impress from the start, rather than the limited minutes that he is receiving at present.
However, the boss has continued to back his new arrival, and he was rewarded for the faith that he has shown in Heggebo by a moment of magic on Friday night.
The striker produced a delightful flick to set Iling-Junior away in behind the visitors’ defence, and the Aston Villa loanee finished in style to give Albion the lead.
The winger took the plaudits for the goal, but Sky Sports co-commentator Andy Hinchcliffe was quick to recognise the role that Heggebo played in the move.
“The touch around the corner from Heggebo is outstanding as well,” he said on Sky Sports Football (26 September, 8:11pm).
“You talk about central strikers scoring goals, it’s not just that, it’s also about their link play, what they can do for other players.
“Iling-Junior makes his move infield, the centre forward appreciates that, and the little flick takes three Leicester players out of the game.
“The understanding that the two players have here is quite brilliant.”

Aune Heggebo and Josh Maja both have a part to play
West Brom fans have been crying out for Maja to get more minutes of late, and the reality of the current situation is that both him and Heggebo will have their part to play as the season wears on.
Heggebo’s presence and physicality at the top of the pitch makes him the ideal option for when Mason sets out to try and play on the break against some of the division’s more threatening teams.
Equally, Maja’s goalscoring instincts are unparalleled throughout the rest of the squad, and he is ideal to bring on in the key moments of games to try and snatch a goal.
The frustration surrounding his lack of football is totally understandable, given what he produced last season, but the Albion faithful need to show patience, and accept that his time will come.
