Man United will be fuming with Ryan Mason after what he’s just done at West Brom

Manchester United will surely be livid with Ryan Mason after the latest development from West Brom.

The former Tottenham academy coach has made a bright start in his first senior managerial job, as he has the Baggies competing in the upper echelons of the early-season Championship table.

West Brom are enduring a mini-slump after defeats to both Derby County and Middlesbrough in their last two outings in the league, and they will be desperate to get back on track at home to Leicester City on Friday night.

The Foxes are the visitors to The Hawthorns for a clash that is live on Sky Sports, and Mason has already made a questionable decision before the game has even got underway.

Manchester United won’t be happy with Toby Collyer absence

Toby Collyer was excellent for West Brom during his 28-minute cameo in the latter stages of the defeat to Middlesbrough last week.

The Manchester United loanee has found football hard to come by so far since his loan move to B71 in the summer.

However, he turned in a hugely promising display on Teesside, and caught the eye with his confidence on the ball and willingness to take risks during the defeat.

Albion fans are already keen on the young midfielder, and many were expecting that his most recent display from the bench would be the catalyst for him to be rewarded with his first start in the clash with Leicester.

Mason has instead opted to name the 21-year-old on the bench yet again, and that decision is certain to anger those at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils will have loaned their starlet to West Brom with the intention of seeing him play, and instead, they are seeing him play little more than a bit part role.

United are sure to be unhappy with the amount of gametime that Collyer is receiving at present, and that could result in them trying to recall him in January if it continues.

West Brom team selection vs Leicester City is baffling

Alfie Gilchrist is also waiting for his first West Brom start, having joined from Chelsea in the summer, and he will have to wait a little longer after the team to face Leicester was announced.

The right flank was a major issue for Albion in the Middlesbrough loss, as natural centre-back George Campbell desperately struggled to provide quality on the ball when he got forward into the final third.

The Baggies have largely been steady defensively so far this term, but need more in the way of creativity, and with that in mind, Mason’s team selection for the Leicester game is simply baffling.

More ingenuity is badly needed within the XI, but both Gilchrist and the risk-taking Collyer have been left out once again.

On this occasion, Manchester United will have to settle for hoping that their starlet can make an impact from the bench yet again.
